On the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Year C), Fr. Anthony Ho continues to describe to us the history of the Church. This time, Fr. Ho speaks on the 16th century Saint, St. Philip Neri. When he was young, Philip lived a simple life, making a living by tutoring for a few hours daily. He spent 3 years studying philosophy and theology privately, solidifying his faith and prayer life. Under the counsel of his spiritual director, he received Holy Orders at the age of 35. Upon becoming a priest, he often encouraged the faithful to receive the sacrament of reconciliation regularly and also strongly promoted the devotion of adoring the Blessed Sacrament. St. Philip Neri died at the age of 80 in the year 1595, and because of his holy virtues, was canonized in the year 1622.
