唯一的徵兆群眾集合攏來的時候，耶穌開始說：「這一世代是一邪惡的世代：它要求徵兆，除了約納的徵兆外，必不給它任何其他徵兆。因為，有如約納為尼尼微人是個徵兆，將來人子為這一世代也是這樣。南方的女王在審判時，將同這一代人起來，定他們的罪，因為她從地極而來，為聽撒羅滿的智慧；看，這裏有一位比撒羅滿更大的！尼尼微人在審判時，將同這一代人起來，定他們的罪，因為尼尼微人因了約納的宣講而悔改了；看，這裏有一位比約納更大的！」
路加福音 11:29-32
在今天的福音中，耶穌說：「這一世代是一邪惡的世代：它要求徵兆」。祂稱人們邪惡，因為他們拒絕相信祂的話，而要求一個能令他們信服的奇蹟。
耶穌也說：「有如約納為尼尼微人是個徵兆，將來人子為這一世代也是這樣。」尼尼微人是外邦人，但他們一聽到約納的呼籲便相信了天主，並為自己的罪做補贖求天主憐憫。（約納 3:4-9）同樣，舍巴女王也是外邦人，從遠道來到耶路撒冷，請撒羅滿解答她的難題。她聽過他的智慧，便讚美天主。（列王紀上 10:1-10）這些外邦人都因宣講而信從了天主，偏偏猶太人卻不聽耶穌的宣講。
聆聽耶穌的話，並在生活中實踐的，才是切切實實跟隨天主的基督徒。

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.”

In today's Gospel, Jesus says: "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign". He regarded the people as evil because they refused to believe and demanded a miracle which would convince them.
Jesus also says: "Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation." The Ninevites were pagan, but once they heard Jonah's message, they believed in God and repented. (Jonah 3:4-9) Likewise, the queen of Sheba was pagan. She went all the way to Jerusalem in order to listen to Solomon. Once she witnessed his wisdom, she praised God. (1 Kings 10:1-10) These pagans believed in God after listening to the proclamation, unfortunately the Jews refused to listen to Jesus.
Let us live authentic Christian lives by listening to the word of Jesus and observing it in our lives.
