John 16:16-20

As Christians, the most significant difference between us and those who do not believe in eternal life, is the way how we see our lives on earth. To those who do not believe in eternal life, death is the end of everything, wherease for Christians, we see our lives on earth as pilgrimage, the destination is our Father's arms. In today's gospel, Jesus said: "A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me" Jesus was telling His disciples that even though He would leave them physically soon, when their faith matured, they would be able to experience Jesus' presence. In our lives, many things happen against our will, but Jesus said "your grief will become joy". For Christians, our salvation is the greatest joy that nothing else could compare. Even though there are sufferings, as long as we fix our gaze upon Jesus, we will be able to make it to the destination.

Forty days after easter, today the Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord, this is celebrated on Sunday due to pastoral reasons.
