In the account, Martha complains to Jesus that Mary has left her with all the busywork, to which he responds that Mary, who has been listening to him, has “chosen the better part.”

Pope Francis: Pride empties prayer and keeps God at a distance

(CNA/EWTN News) One who prays with humility and awareness of his or her sin speaks to God, Pope Francis said on Wednesday, whereas one who prays with arrogance and self-righteousness is speaking to a mirror. “It is not enough to ask ourselves how often we pray,” the Pope said to the thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's Square for the weekly general audience. “We must also ask ourselves how we pray, or rather, how our heart is.”

Live not in your grave

Pope Francis: Lamenting one’s suffering to God is a prayer that reaches the Lord

Source: Pope Francis at Mass: crying out to God for succour
