Evangelizing through Cantonese Opera

On this week’s “Love and Life”, we bring to you a new segment called “Evangelizing through Cantonese Opera”, a show hosted by Mr. Wilson Kwong and Cantonese Opera teacher Ms. Ines Cheang. They will introduce the core concepts of Cantonese Opera and how it can be used to evangelize the Gospel of Christ. This week, they discuss the origins of Cantonese Opera and how it has changed, touching on subjects such as the development of staging and musical instruments, as well as the casts’ actors and roles, their singing voices, make-up, costumes and stage design.

On the 30th Sunday of Ordinary Time (Year B), Fr. Anthony Ho explain to us the story of Jesus healing the blind man in the Gospel of Mark. We must model ourselves after the blind man, who cried out to Jesus for help, putting away our stubbornness and selfish desires, in order to follow Him with one mind and heart. As long as we look forward in faith, we will be able to see Jesus Christ and walk on the path to the heavenly kingdom. Finally, Fr. Ho also talks about the life of St. Jude the Apostle.
