Spiritual Talk – Fr Ho talks about St. Faustina (9)

by Pat Young

St. Faustina had poor health, and she was hospitalized from December 1936 to March 1937. Once, she was woken up in the middle of the night by a soul in need of her prayer. The next day, she found a patient on the brink of death in an adjacent room. An interior voice told her, “Pray the chaplet that I taught you.” St. Faustina did as she was told, and the patient opened his eyes, looked at her with a peaceful countenance, and passed away. For the sake of His Son’s Passion, God had promised special graces to souls on the brink of death, for whom others had prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet. When friends and family are facing death, we must pray the Chaplet, because not only can we comfort the dying and their family, our reliance on God’s mercy in those time is very important. On August 8, 1937, St. Faustina prayed to God that not a single soul which died that day would enter Hell. Jesus replied, “My dear daughter, you know the depth of My Mercy. You have made an enormous request, but I know you ask out of the purity of your love for Me, so I will grant it.”
