On the 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time (Year C), Fr. Anthony Ho continues to describe to us the history of the early Church. This time, Fr. Ho speaks on St. Teresa of Avila who was born in Sixteenth Century Spain. She entered the Order of the Carmelites at the age of twenty, and at the age of forty-three, decided to reform the order. At the age of forty-seven she founded the first Discalced Carmelite convent, spending her life in simplicity and prayer. During her life, Teresa personally founded fifteen convents, and reformed the friars with St. John of the Cross. Teresa loved to share her experiences on prayer with others through her writings. “The Way of Perfection”, the “Interior Castle”, and her “Life” are part of the patrimony of the Church’s spirituality.
