Mission Trip to Dominican Republic (2): A Close Look at Poverty

Most people who go for Caribbean vacations spend most of their time enjoying the sun and beaches. They might not be exposed to the living conditions of the locals. Missionaries of St. Joseph the Worker Parish had the opportunity to take a close look at the living conditions of the poor in the Dominican Republic. What kind of impact will this experience have on them?

Out of the Cold

In Toronto, there are over 5,000 poor and homeless people who need help to survive through the bitter cold winter. Over twenty years ago, a Catholic nun and a group of high school students and their teachers answered this call for help and established "Out of the Cold" program. Today, Out of the Cold has spread to other Canadian cities. Members of Knights of Columbus from two Chinese parishes took part in this program and share their experiences.
