The Greatest Commandment

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” You shall love, not ‘fear,’ for to love is more than to fear; to fear belongs to slaves, to love to sons; fear is in compulsion, love in freedom. Whoever serves God in […]

Workers in the Vineyard

There are many come to the faith, yet but few arrive at the heavenly kingdom; many follow God in words, but ignore Him in their daily lives. Immediately two things come to mind. The first, that none should presume concerning himself; for though he be called to the faith, he knows not whether he shall […]

Become as little children

Jesus seeing their thoughts would heal their ambitious strivings, by arousing an emulation in lowliness; whence it follows, “And Jesus calling a little child, set him in the midst of them.” One whose tender age should express to them the innocence which they should have. But truly Jesus set Himself in the midst of them, […]

The Canaanite Woman’s Faith

Observe this Canaanite woman’s prudence; she does not dare to contradict Jesus, nor is she vexed with the commendation of the Jews, and the evil word “dog” applied to herself; But she said, “Yea, Lord, yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” He said, “It is not good”; she […]

Feeding of the Multitude

It is a proof of the faith of these multitudes that they endured hunger in waiting for the Lord even till evening. The Lord intending to feed them waits to be asked, as not always stepping forward first to do miracles, but waits to be called upon. None out of the crowd approached Jesus, both […]

Jesus was not honored in His hometown

When Jesus returned to his hometown of Nazareth and preached in the synagogue, people were astonished by his wisdom and miracles. However, because of their familiarity with Jesus and his family, they felt offended and refused to believe in him. Although Jesus has been rejected by other people outside of […]

Martha’s Faith in Jesus

John 11:19-27 (Please read Martha and Mary regarding Luke 10:38-42) Today’s gospel is the dialogue between Martha and Jesus when Jesus arrived after Lazarus has been dead for four days. An Act of Faith

Exodus 2:1-15 Since the Egyptians saw the people of Israel as a threat, as a result, Pharaoh commanded that every boy born to the Hebrews should be thrown into the river. Courage, daughter!

Matthew 9:18-26 In the bible, there aren’t many examples of Jesus praising people, but praising the faith of this woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years is one. Power of Intercession

Matthew 9:1-8 The scripture repeatedly reminds us that we should not underestimate the power of intercession – asking on behalf of others. Pope Francis: God calls us by name, and with a promise

Source: Pope Francis at morning Mass: no one is Christian by chance

Do not worry

Matthew 6:24-34 In today’s gospel reading, Jesus said: “You cannot serve God and mammon.” The way of life that Jesus taught His disciples: don’t be attached to worldy things, strive to love God and our neighbours, is completely incompatible with a preoccupation with money and possessions. Jesus told us clearly […]

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – Luke 9:11-17 The crowd listened to Jesus’ teaching in a deserted place. It was close to evening. The disciples suggested to Jesus that He should dismiss the crowd so that they could go to look for lodging and […]

Contempt for the truth

【Mark 11:27-33】 The Jewish authorities were angry with the Lord, for having cast out of the temple those who had made it a place of merchandise, and therefore they come up to Him, to question and tempt Him. St. Athanasius was the bishop of Alexandria and the Church’s greatest hero against the Arian heresy – the belief that Jesus was a created being and not God. Pope Francis: Our faith begins with an encounter with Jesus

On Thursday, Pope Francis celebrated mass for the Italian State Police who serve the Vatican area. He said in the homily that God is a real, concrete person, not some intangible essence or esoteric mist like “god-spray”. God is a real person — a father.
