I work in Canva to create designs for various events and programs hosted at FLL. Together with our wonderful team, I help bring ideas to life, finalizing digital and physical deliverables.

Last year, I had the impossible task of turning a section of our used office space into an art gallery. Among other big issues, the walls were worn and tatty. Facing what looked to be almost a mini-renovation, I asked for help.

The most memorable person came through on Day 3 of my wallpaper-hanging “adventure”. Otto is a longtime supporter of FLL; I recognized him immediately. He’s dressed in his usual; a smart polo shirt, nice pants, and gorgeous leather shoes. And as I greeted him in my ceiling-dusted attire, he proceeded to climb a ladder and we ended up labouring the rest of the day.

I’ve come to realize that everyone who supports FLL is ready to jump head-first into whatever God has called them to do. As someone who find that difficult, the image of Otto climbing ladders in leather shoes is an inspiration.

Fr. Francis once mentioned “Give your youth, your best years, to God” and I’ve done just that with my time here at FLL. I haven’t experienced a strong vocational calling in a traditional sense, but I find so much joy in giving and sharing.

You find yourself surrounded by everyone you’ve loved and cared about, and you start to realize that there are a lot more people present than you expected.
