jesus-and-his-12-disciples瑪竇福音 10:1-7

Matthew 10:1-7

In order to spread the Good News of the Kingdom to everywhere, Jesus handpicked the twelve apostles. Among the twelve were fishermen, one of them was even a tax collector – an unpopular figure at the time. Jesus picked common people who did ordinary things. They had different personalities. They had weaknesses and struggles. Jesus called them and gave them the power to drive out evil spirits and to cure diseases, not because they were special. They were chosen not for what they were, but for what they would be capable of becoming under his direction and power. When God calls us to serve Him, we must not think we have nothing to offer. God would like to use common people to spread the Good News of salvation, are you willing to be His tool?

Jesus asked the apostles to proclaim: “‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand”. This message is quite simple. What is the Kingdom of heaven? When we pray “Our Father”, we say “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. We pray that God’s will can be done in us. If everyone prays for God’s will to be done in them, the Kingdom of heaven will be here on earth.
