9 days till canonization: Faith

The Lord has chosen me…, so it will be for Him to cover up my failings and supply my insufficiencies. This comforts me and gives me tranquility and confidence.

Pope John XXIII

Did you know?
Pope John XXIII’s episcopal motto was Oboedientia et Pax, which means “Obedience and Peace”.
“I owe, in part, the tranquility of soul I feel as I rest in the arms of Divine Providence and of holy obedience, to having been born in the country and of a family, poor in earthly goods, but rich in faith and in the fear of God and used to the simple daily and yearly things of nature.” (Pope John XXIII to his family, April 30, 1930)
Have no fear of moving into the unknown. Simply step out fearlessly knowing that I am with you, therefore no harm can befall you; all is very, very well. Do this in complete faith and confidence.

Pope John Paul II

Did you know?
Pope John Paul II’s mother passed away just before his 9th birthday, leaving only his father to raise him. His father helped him develop his faith, and that it was his dream to see his son become a priest. However, as a young man he was very interested in acting and theatre. In 1987, he told some youth at Los Angeles, “I am often asked, especially by young people, why I became a priest. Maybe some of you would like to ask the same question. Let me try briefly to reply. I must begin by saying that it is impossible to explain entirely. For it remains a mystery, even to myself. How does one explain the ways of God? Yet, I know that, at a certain point in my life, I became convinced that Christ was saying to me what he had said to thousands before me: ‘Come, follow me!'”
