Support Physicians to Preserve the Right to Freedom of Religion and Conscience

On February 6, 2015, Supreme Court of Canada has ruled to lift the ban on doctor-assisted suicide. Below are statement from Cardinal Thomas Collins and President of Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) on Supreme Court of Canada’s decision.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) in a proposed new draft document states:

“Where physicians are unwilling to provide certain elements of care due to their moral or religious beliefs, an effective referral to another health care provider must be provided to the patient”.

Immediate Action Required: Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL) has proposed to reject the proposed “effective referral” mandate. If you are a citizen in Ontario, please visit CCRL website and submit your opinion to CPSO on or before Feb 20, 2015. Please also contact your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP).
